We started in the industry in 2008, when the word monitor was only used to refer to the computer screen, there were no managers, payments were received through Payoneer and the popular sites were Naked, Cams, PeekShows and PrivateFeeds.
Our first studio was born in a small internet cafe, in the Sucursal del Cielo, a cafe that one day stopped renting computers hourly to connect the first people who trusted us. Later we would open branches in the cities of Armenia, Cartagena and Medellin.
The systems technician, who seven years later would become the owner of one of the studios with the highest turnover in Cali, also helped change sheets and prepare snacks. All of us, at some point, were before our work team that rare mix between boss, mom, dad, motivational coach, friend and confidant. Even the CEO, when we discovered the sale of audiovisual material, had among his functions to act as photographer and makeup artist.
It is worth noting that, in our process of entering the industry, we had a loss of 240 million pesos, which we took as a somewhat expensive crash course on the do’s and don’ts of running a webcam studio.
Some key elements for our development were to guarantee the channeling of resources on a weekly basis, the implementation of permanent technical support and the creation of spaces for the professional production of audiovisual content.
Attending international events in the industry made the difference between the gradual growth we had been experiencing and the dimension we now enjoy, because in the midst of these visits to the platforms directly in their countries, we achieved exclusive agreements and benefits for all parties.
One day, some studios approached us to discuss the possibility of working with us and accessing the resource channeling service, giving birth to AJ’s first sub-studios, which became 172 nationwide.
Thanks to the attention achieved in an event called LaLexpo, organized in the company of friends and great exponents of webcam modeling, we started a promising and ambitious project: offices of the main live streaming sites in our country.
For years, we developed the idea of expanding our portfolio of services and becoming a direct channel for the platforms, a dream that we made come true by creating The Webcam Lab and boosting it with 10 more services, designed in what were previously known as sub-studios and now would become affiliate studios.
On August 14, 2018, The Webcam Lab inaugurates its offices and reiterates its mission to consolidate in the same team the best professionals in the industry, dedicated to strengthening those studios whose best practices and aspirations lead them to be part of what is now the largest full-service center in the industry worldwide.
